Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)

What is RSV?

is a common respiratory virus that causes infections of the lungs and respiratory tract

Early Symptoms of RSV

  • Runny Nose
  • Lowered apetite
  • Cough 
  • Congestion  

Additional Signs and Symptoms

  •  Short, shallow rapid breathing 
  • Fever 
  •  Decreased activity and appetite

Severe RSV Infection

In Children, symptoms can become so severe that they experience:

  • Bronchiolitis
  • Pneumonia
 

Contact your child’s healthcare provider or emergency room if your child experiences worsening symptoms, difficulty breathing or swallowing.
